Applause acoustic guitar
Q: I have an "Applause" acoustic guitar,
it is an Ibanez half bowl body.
A few of the frets are lifted out towards the 1st string, so
if you bend a string during a lead, the 1st string can get caught
under the fret. Can these be tapped back down, or does the
fret need to be pulled out and re-seated?
A: The offending fret must be pulled and rebent
and redriven. It needs to be overbent so that it will spring back
to perfect as it is driven. It can't be overbent while it is still
in the slot. Hammering the ends might work for a short while, but
the metal memory out lasts the grip of the wood of the slot. It
is far best to have this work done by someone who has done it a
lot.
